D.K. Row has reviewed Laurie Danial’s exhibit, Beautiful Losers,in the Friday, May 9th edition of The Oregonian, A&E section.
“…I love Danial’s new paintings at Froelick Gallery. They seem more intuitive, explode with color, while continuing to fuse abstraction with more recognizable elements. There’s also a hint of Japonisme in these works, of Floating World luxury and indulgence. Bravo.”
“Laurie Danial is represented at Portland’s Froelick Gallery and Eva Speer by Seattle’s Viveza Gallery, but both merit bigger audiences. Danial’s “Holy Mess” seems almost three-dimensional, as geometric planes and patterns intersect and colors drip down the canvas onto one another.”
